Walt Neuens Memorial Horse Arena
1909 Riverwood Dr.
Adding to the diversity of all that is offered throughout Bismarck Parks and Recreation District is the Walt Neuens Memorial Horse Arena. Located along Riverwood Drive, and a neighbor to both Riverwood Golf Course and the Missouri River, the arena is home to the Bismarck Horse Club. The club is open to everyone who owns a horse and is interested in friendly competition. The club hosts a full range of equestrian events.
And who is the arena named for?
Walt Neuens was a member of many local and state horse-related and other organizations, including Badlands Trail Riders, Bismarck Horse Club, Bismarck Mounted Police and North Dakota Stockmen’s Association, and was a supporter of the Home on the Range Champions Ride. He furnished stock, did arena work and was president and rodeo manager for the Medora Horse Club Rodeo and served as president of the North Dakota Cutting Horse Association. In the 1950s and ’60s, he served 10 consecutive years as North Dakota Rodeo Association president. Walt is a member of the ND Cowboy Hall of Fame.
