BisParks BCycle Opens for Third Season, Adds e-Bikes to Fleet
Bismarck Parks and Recreation District is opening the third season of its BisParks BCycle bike share program with the addition of pedal assist e-bikes. Stations are located at Sertoma Park, Pioneer Park, BSC Aquatic & Wellness Center and Peace Park.
While classic pedal bikes make up the bulk of BisParks BCycle’s fleet, 10 pedal assist e-bikes have been added this year with support from the Tom and Frances Leach Foundation. E-bikes increase program accessibility for people who may not able to ride a traditional pedal bike. An electric motor and battery help riders power their bikes. The power assist only works when a rider is pedaling, providing a ride experience similar to a traditional pedal bike.
Single ride passes may be purchased at each station through the BCycle app. Rates for classic pedal bikes are $5 plus $.02 per minute and pedal assist e-bikes are $10 plus $.04 per minute.
2024 bike sponsors include AARP North Dakota, Daniel Companies, Downtown Bismarck Community Foundation, First International Bank & Trust, Northern Plains Heritage Foundation, Petro-Hunt LLC, Security First Bank of North Dakota and Terry’s Health Products/Peace Garden Hemp. Bike sponsorships for the 2024 season are still available.
The program was founded by the 2020 Leadership Bismarck-Mandan Project Team with original program sponsors Blue Cross Blue Shield ND Caring Foundation, North Dakota Department of Health Preventive Health and Health Services Block Grant, Basin Electric Power Cooperative and MDU Resources Group Inc.
