Bismarck Board of Park Commissioners Brief for Oct. 17, 2024


Thom Brigl shared information about Bismarck Sports Group as a Bismarck Parks and Recreation District (BPRD) featured partner. Bismarck Bobcats hockey offers boys ages 16-20 the opportunity to play competitive hockey. Bismarck Sports Group also operates concessions at BPRD golf courses and VFW Sports Center. 

Also as featured partners, user groups updated the Board about their use of Bismarck Municipal Ballpark and the value of the current project replacing the grass field with artificial turf. Speakers included Matt Sagsveen and Andrew Feist with Bismarck Youth Baseball, Nate Maddox with Bismarck Larks, and Cooper Jones with University of Mary.

The Board approved the lease addendum with the Missouri Valley Family YMCA and extended the agreement for another 25 years.

The Board authorized staff to call for bids for the LED lighting project at Nishu Bowmen Archery Complex and Joann Hetzel Memorial 4-H Building. The project will be funded with an 80/20 grant from the State Energy Program.

The Board authorized staff to call for bids for 2025 maintenance equipment and golf carts at Tom O’Leary Golf Course.

The Board approved the addendum for Green Food 2 Go to assume the vending portion of BPRD’s 2023-2027 soft drink and supply agreement with PepsiCo Beverage Sales LLC.

The Board approved the real estate purchase agreement for Lot 8, Block 1, Hay Creek Park Addition.

The next regularly scheduled Board meeting is Thursday, Nov. 21, at 5:15 p.m. in the Tom Baker Meeting Room.
