Bismarck Board of Park Commissioners Brief for Nov. 21, 2024
Jade DeSmidt shared information about Bismarck Gymnastics Academy (BGA) as a Bismarck Parks and Recreation District (BPRD) featured partner. BGA has more than 800 gymnasts in its recreational program, ranging in age from 18 months to high school seniors, along with a competitive program. BGA is located at Capital Racquet & Fitness Center (CRFC), and the biggest challenge is limited space to accommodate the demand for gymnastics. DeSmidt expressed appreciation to BPRD and CRFC staff for working with them to find additional space within the facility.
The Board approved the bid for phase two of the electrical pedestal campsite project at Eagles Park from Edling Electric in the amount of $67,300.
The Board approved the bid and lease agreement for on-site food service and off-site catering at Municipal Country Club from Lady J’s Catering Inc.
Gabe Schell, City of Bismarck Engineer, presented an update on the South Bismarck Flood Protection Project and the Bismarck airport and the Bismarck Expressway alternatives for implementation.
The Board approved the list of qualified professional consultants for 2025-2026 park district projects. The Board authorized staff to call for 2025 fertilizer bids. The Board appointed Elyse Puklich to the BSC Aquatic & Wellness Center Advisory Committee. The Board approved change orders for cultural resources studies for two trail projects. The Board approved changes to the Accounting Policy and Procedure Handbook.
The next regularly scheduled Board meeting is Thursday, Dec. 19, at 5:15 p.m. in the Tom Baker Meeting Room.
