Bismarck Board of Park Commissioners Brief for Jan. 19, 2023
Newly appointed board member Jennifer Odell was sworn into office by legal counsel.
Lynae Hanson shared information about the Bismarck Arts & Galleries Association (BAGA) as a Bismarck Parks and Recreation District (BPRD) featured partner. BAGA has 350 members that support its mission to consistently to stimulate the study and presentation of the visual arts, to encourage and expand participation and appreciation by all persons, and to preserve our regional cultural heritage. She expressed appreciation for the partnership with BPRD.
BPRD Recreation Specialist Spencer Aune updated the Board on plans for the annual Flurry Fest in February. The month-long celebration of winter provides a diverse mix of free and low-cost events and programs for residents and visitors.
The Board approved bids for 2023 maintenance equipment, golf cars and fertilizer.
The Board approved the resolution providing for the sale of general obligation park facilities bonds, series 2023, for the VFW Sports Center Expansion Project.
The Board authorized destruction of old records per BPRD’s record retention policy.
The Board authorized staff to call for bids for Bismarck Municipal Ballpark parking lot lights, Hay Creek Park development, Sam McQuade Sr. playground replacement, Joann Hetzel Memorial 4-H Building roof replacement, Sertoma Park water line, Cottonwood Park Umpires’ Headquarters project, and Sertoma Park playground replacement.
The next regularly scheduled Board meeting is Thursday, Feb. 16, 2023, at 5:15 p.m. in the Tom Baker Meeting Room.
