Bismarck Board of Park Commissioners Brief for Feb. 20, 2025
Mikayla Jablonski Jahner shared information about Bismarck Hockey Boosters (BHB) as a Bismarck Parks and Recreation District (BPRD) featured partner. This year, BHB has 757 youth ages 4-15 involved in their programs. Their season is October through March, but they are also planning summer programs. BHB is hosting two state tournaments in March.
Kristin Wilhelm with the Bismarck Figure Skating Club (BFSC) also updated the Board as a BPRD featured partner. BFSC has 275 participants in its Learn to Skate program and 109 in its Advanced program. BFSC also has 9 Synchro teams with 132 participants involved in its nationally recognized synchronized skating program.
The Board approved the bid for the lighting project at the Joann Hetzel Memorial 4-H Building and Nishu Bowmen Archery Complex from Bergstrom Electric in the amount of $52,250.
The Board approved the bid for the Washington Street Trail Extension from Meridian Drive to General Sibley Park from Central Specialties in the amount of $503,833.50.
The Board approved the bid for the Cottonwood Park Fence Project to American Security & Gate Company in the amount of $68,650.

- Dakota United Soccer Club
The Board approved updated Safety Policy, authorized staff to call for bids to replace the age 2-5 playground at General Sibley Park and submit a Garrison Diversion Conservancy District grant for the project, approved disposal of obsolete records, approved disposal of equipment through the City of Bismarck auction, and authorized consultant selection and call for bids for the General Sibley RV campsite electrical updates. The Board also approved consultant agreements for VFW Sports Center interior painting with Ubl Design Group, World War Memorial Building roof replacement with Ubl Design Group, Elks Aquatic Center safety surface replacement with AGL, Tom O’Leary Golf Course cart path phase 1 with Apex Engineering Group, and BSC Aquatic & Wellness Center videoboard with Apex Engineering Group.
The next regularly scheduled Board meeting is Thursday, March 20, at 5:15 p.m. in the Tom Baker Meeting Room.
