Bismarck Board of Park Commissioners Brief for Feb. 16, 2023


Jason Tomanek shared information about Bismarck’s 150th Celebration in 2022 as a Bismarck Parks and Recreation District (BPRD) featured partner. The celebration included the planting of 150 trees at New Generations Park.

Deputy Chief Jason Stugelmeyer provided an update on the Bismarck Police Department and its work patrolling park property. They have started using e-bikes in some areas.

The Board awarded the bid for the parking lot lighting project at the Bismarck Municipal Ballpark to Skeels Electric Company for $42,625.

The Board awarded the base bid and alternate 1 for the electrical expansion project at Eagles Park to Skeels Electric for $48,574.

The Board awarded concessions operations at Riverwood Golf Course, VFW Sports Center and Tom O’Leary Golf course to Bismarck Sports Group.

The Board approved the resolution authorizing the issuance and sale of general obligation park facilities bonds, series 2023, for the VFW Sports Center Expansion and Improvement Project.

The Board approved easements for the City of Bismarck’s sanitary sewer project through Pebble Creek Golf Course.

Dakota Junior Golf Association presented a proposal for relocation of the Sheila Schafer Junior Links to the Pebble Creek Golf Course, including a commitment of $200,000 to support the project. The Board authorized staff to proceed with the consultant selection process for the project.

The Board approved Round 1 Matching Grants were approved as follows:

  • Bismarck Mandan Lacrosse Association
  • Bismarck Rotary Club
  • Bismarck Youth Baseball

  • Missouri River Baseball Club

The Board authorized destruction of old records per BPRD’s record retention policy.

The Board approved a companion agreement with the City of Bismarck for the Hay Creek retaining wall project and authorized staff to apply for grants from AARP, Garrison Diversion, Reeves Foundation and Kubota.

The next regularly scheduled Board meeting is Thursday, March 16, 2023, at 5:15 p.m. in the Tom Baker Meeting Room.
