Flurry Fest 2025
Did you know the great outdoors might just be the ultimate pick-me-up? Studies show that fresh air and outdoor fun can melt away stress and anxiety, keeping you happy and healthy. That’s why Bismarck Parks and Recreation District (BPRD) is turning February into a winter wonderland of fun with Flurry Fest! Get ready for a month packed with free and budget-friendly activities for all ages.
Some outdoor highlights this year include the S’mores Walk, Skate with the Bobcats and Treasure Hunt.

Feb. 1-28 • FREE Winter Photo Contest
- Send us your pictures of winter fun and you could win a prize package from BPRD. Plus, your photo may just show up in one of our publications or online.

Feb. 1 • FREE Kicksled Kickoff (Vinterfest)
- 1-3pm
- Riverwood Golf Course, 725 Riverwood Dr.
- Join Bismarck Parks & Recreation District and the Sons of Norway Sverdrup Lodge for an introduction to kicksledding at Riverwood Golf Course. Fun for all ages, attendees can expect to watch, learn and practice kicksledding—a foot-powered Scandinavian sled used for winter transportation.
- Seven kicksleds of various sizes will be available; attendees will have the opportunity to take turns trying them out on a groomed route during this Vinterfest event.
- Following the event, the Sons of Norway will be donating the kicksleds to Bismarck Parks & Recreation District for public enjoyment.
- This is made possible through a grant from The American-Scandinavian Foundation.

- Think ‘sand volleyball’ but with snow! Volleyballs are available at the warming house on-site during regular warming house hours.

Pack your cross-country skis and headlamp for a luminary lit .75-mile ski trail beneath the cottonwood forest at General Sibley Park as part of this Vinterfest event. A campfire and snacks will be available along the trail.

- Sharpen your treasure-seeking skills. You get one Treasure Hunt clue a day for five days to lead you to a treasure of park district prizes.
