Bismarck Board of Park Commissioners Brief for Dec. 19, 2024
Members of the Farwest Rotary Club shared information as a Bismarck Parks and Recreation District (BPRD) featured partner. Charter Member Mark Thompson shared highlights from the club’s 40 years of service to the community. As the club’s closing act, a gift of $107,343 from the club and its individual members was presented to the Endowment Fund of the Bismarck Recreation Council, the park district’s foundation. Earnings from the donation will support improvements to New Generations Park.
Executive Director Kevin Klipfel presented an update on the Dec. 11 community meeting on park district property options related to the South Bismarck Flood Protection Project. A public survey seeking feedback on the project is open until 5pm on Dec. 30 on this webpage.
The Board approved a year-end transfer for equipment purchase and the 2025 Matching Grant agreement. The Board authorized staff to call for bids for portable toilets, security services, pool filter septum, hot tub retiling, and outfield fence replacement. The Board authorized staff to select consultants and call for bids for replacing the videoboard at BSC Aquatic & Wellness Center, painting the interior of VFW Sports Center Rink 1, replacing the roof of World War Memorial Building, completing phase 1 cart paths at Tom O’Leary Golf Course, and replacing the playground at Elks Aquatic Center.
