What’s the Latest on Winter Activities? Updates on Cross-Country Skiing
Last week’s snowstorm has peaked a lot of interest in outdoor winter activities offered by Bismarck Parks and Recreation District (BPRD). The latest updates and openings will be posted on Facebook and this website.
Shared Use Trails
With more than 80 miles of trails, BPRD staff are working diligently to get paved shared use trails open as quickly as possible this week.
Cross-Country Skiing
BPRD staff has worked hard to open one single trail for cross-country skiing at Riverwood Golf Course starting Nov. 16. Only classic skiing is allowed at this time. No additional trails will be available for skiing at any golf courses until the ground is frozen. Atkinson Nature Park and General Sibley Park are also open for skiing.
Ice Skating
Generally, outdoor hockey and pleasure rinks are open for skating by late December, but it is weather dependent. Like cross-country skiing, the ground needs to be frozen to build and manage quality ice-skating rinks. We are hiring warming house attendants – learn more about joining our team.
Tom O’Leary Sledding Hill
The warming house for the Tom O’Leary Sledding Hill will open Nov. 19 for the season. Hours are noon-5pm on weekends and public school holidays, weather permitting.
Please stay tuned on this website and Facebook as we will post openings as they happen. Thank you for your patience.
