Summer Outdoor Pool Schedule, Indoor Swim Lesson Changes – Lifeguards Needed

Due to staffing shortages, Bismarck Parks and Recreation District (BPRD) is adjusting pool hours and swim lessons this summer.

“We are working diligently to fill lifeguard and swim instructor positions, but it has proven especially difficult this year in a tight job market,” says Kevin Klipfel, BPRD executive director. “Our priority is to provide safe pools this summer, and current staffing levels require us to make some adjustments. We continue to actively recruit with the goal of hiring more staff to resume normal pool hours for our community.”

BPRD has immediate part-time openings for lifeguards and swim instructors. These are great employment opportunities with flexible schedules for individuals ages 15 and older. Application materials are available online. Anyone interested in training to become a lifeguard is invited to call Jahna at 751-4270.

Morning Indoor Swim Lessons Offered

Indoor morning swim lessons will be offered at the BSC Aquatic & Wellness Center (AWC), but evening lessons will not be available. Registration opens Tuesday, May 24, at 10 a.m. online or in person at BSC AWC or the BPRD administrative office.
